The Shadow of the Sun by Ryszard Kapuscinski. I have to admit, the non-fiction I typically read is more of a straight-forward history book, so this was definitely a change of pace. This was a reporter’s account of his journey traveling throughout Africa in late 50s.  It painted a new picture of Africa for me, from the little that I knew of the continent. From the politics, to the vastness of the lands, to what does happen to the remains of elephants after they die, I enjoyed being on this trip with this author. 

Breaking Dawn, Eclipse, New Moon & Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Decided to finish the series in order to read the new one. Huge fan of the movies, was fun to revisit the story in the books.

Jaws by Peter Benchley. This is one of my favorite movies and I was so excited to read it as part of book club.  But wow, not what I expected!  Fun read, though.

Zone One by Colson Whitehead. Did I have to keep looking up the definition of the words within? Yes. Do I now use the word defenestration any chance I get? Also yes. Fun that it took place in a city and area that I know very well. Loved the procedural aspect of what happens when the zombie attacks are under control. Nice take on this genre.  

Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King. While this wasn’t his usual horror story, there were so many horrific scenes. Master of characters for sure. 

Honeymoon & Honeymoon 2 by James Patterson. Decided to read Honeymoon after watching James Patterson’s Master Class on writing. He referenced it often throughout and I wanted to match what he was saying about his process to it. My first JP book. They read like a rollercoaster! So fast-paced and fun. Thoroughly enjoyed.
